Documenting amphibian and reptile diversity at Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary
An invited survey documenting herpetofaunal diversity across varied habitats in Jharkhand.
SURVEY BACKGROUND
An invited rapid monsoon survey.
Fieldwork took place from 25 July to 2 August 2025, with nocturnal observations continuing into the early hours of 3 August 2025. The survey covered streams, pools, grasslands, forest edges, rocky uplands, paddy fields and village interfaces.
SURVEY OUTCOME
51 species recorded in the initial survey.
The official Forest Department guide featured 30 species and was released on 12 August 2025. An expanded technical working checklist contains 62 annotated entries and is presented only as a technical review layer requiring context and seasonal follow-up.
