SNAKE RESCUE

Safer responses begin with better understanding

Snake rescue requires care, judgment and respect for both people and wildlife. SPOAR supports responsible response practices that prioritize safety, minimize unnecessary handling and encourage appropriate coordination and release.

Training is an important part of prevention. SPOAR has delivered practical sessions for Forest Department personnel in West Bengal, Assam and Madhya Pradesh.

If you encounter a snake

  • Keep a safe distance.
  • Do not attempt to catch, injure or kill the snake.
  • Keep children and pets away.
  • Avoid crowding the animal.
  • Contact a trained rescuer or relevant local authority.
  • If a bite occurs, seek medical treatment immediately. Do not rely on unverified remedies.
